Mt. Chual

Activities and the various systems that accupied the Mt. Chual communications bunker.

The first AM repeater. We were in one of six wire cages within the building, each with its own external doorway. - Aug., 1965

Controller from another group - Aug., 1965

Looking over the valley from Mt. Chual. The building in the foreground was then the City of San Jose communications center - later taken over by Santa Clara County Communications - Nov., 1967

The underbelly of the repeater controller built for the new WB6OQS FM system. Some of the wires shown had what looked like splices in shrink tubing. What was really inside the tubing was a diode for some of the logic. Strange to trouble shoot. - June, 1968

The front of the system. Claude, WB6OUU, on the right. - June, 1968

The back door of the rack. Each piece of equipment had a 25-pair phone cable that terminated on a strip on this door. All component interconnects were made on this door. Not suprisingly, this was designed by a fellow who worked for the phone company (Western Electric). June, 1968

Outside the radio bunker on Mt. Chual. That's my red 1973 Corolla parked in front. You can see three of the individual cage doors here. There were three more doors on the other side of the building. Sept, 1974

Working on the tower. Just to the left of the climbers were two GAM antennas, a 2-meter antenna and, hanging upside down, a 440 antenna. May, 1975
